Huaxin operates in China more than 50 waste management platforms that pre-process selected waste streams and convert them into fuels for co-processing in the clinker kilns (in co-processing, as opposed to incineration, the energy as well as the mineral content of the pre-processed waste streams are recovered and utilized). These platforms have a total annual capacity of more than 6 million tons per year.
Waste streams covered include municipal solid waste, sludge from municipal sewerage treatment plants, selected industrial wastes, contaminated soil, floating objects collected from dams and rivers, and medical waste.
All platforms are designed to receive non-hazardous wastes and a limited number with the relevant specific installations are designed to receive hazardous wastes.
Laboratory facilities at each waste management platform as well as on provincial and national levels ensure quality control and compliance with health and safety as well as environmental laws and regulations.
