On September 18, Cimentos de Moçambique(CM), Huaxin’s subsidiary in Mozambique, has launched a 3000tpd clinker project in Dondo, Sofola province.
This move is part of efforts to enhance its leading position in the market by installing a clinker line and expanding its capacity at its Dondo cement plants, which will effectively increase Huaxin's market competitiveness in Mozambique.
Inauguration Ceremony of the Dondo 3000T/D Clinker Production Line Project
At the launch ceremony, Fernando Barreto, acting Country Manager of Huaxin Mozambique, introduced the planning, advantages and development prospects of the project in detail, saying that this is an important initiative for Huaxin to be optimistic about Mozambique's economic development in the long term and firmly implement continuing investment. The project can promote the economic construction of the region, create new employment opportunities, and effectively promote the healthy development of the local building materials industry.
Huaxin officially took over Mozambique Cement in December 2023, and the Dondo plant is one of the company's five cement plants. Founded in 1967, the plant has a cement grinding capacity of 750,000 tons, making it the largest cement plant in central Mozambique. There is no cement clinker production line in the central region of Mozambique, and with the construction of a clinker production line with a daily output of 3,000 tons of Dondo factory and the cement grinding capacity increased to 1.3 million tons, it will greatly enhance the market competitiveness of Dondo factory and even Huaxin in broader Mozambique. The project is scheduled to start construction in November 2024 and come on-stream by the end of 2025.
